ACoruna is a city filled with culture rich things to do. There are many fine museums to visit throughout the area, two of the most popular being the Domus Museum and Casa del Hombre, the House of Man, located on Playa del Orzan, the beach that is adjacent to the promenade. Casa del Hombre is the only museum in Spain that houses more than one kind of science. They offer wide varieties of science exhibits such as anthropology, natural history and many interactive exhibitions.
One attraction that you should surely make it to see is the Roman Tower of Hercules. It is the oldest lighthouse in the world and has been declared the 'world heritage monument.' It has lasted over two thousand years of continuous operation and is still in operation to this day. Another important landmark to visit is the Castle of San Anton. It is located on a small island and is connected to the mainland by a long bridge. The other castle of the city, Castillo de San Diego, has the archaeological Museum of ACoruna. It ion the opposite side of the bay and with the Castle of San Anton they serve to protect the entrance to the port harbor. Other noteworthy places to visit include the Palacio de la Opera de La Coruna. This opera house has been home to many famous Opera singers such as Pavarotti and Domingo. If you are looking to see some more of the fantastic historic attractions of the city of ACoruna Spain then you should check out the monuments scattered all of the downtown area. The Church of Santiago is also the oldest church of Spain. A sight that is definitely something that nobody should miss. The Church of San Jorge is also home to many old monuments that date back to the early eighteenth century. On the beach of Playa del Riazo there is an aquarium called la Casa de los Peces, The House of Fish, that is home to over three hundred species of fish that live in the Atlantic waters and the fresh waters of Spain. There are all kinds of fantastic fish that are considered tropical and some that are more of your garden variety of fish. Like every Spanish town, ACoruna has a thriving night life. Once the dark sets in in this sea side town of ACoruna the music starts to place, the drinks come out and streets fill with people dancing and having a great time.
