ACoruna Spain is a beautiful coastal town located in Galicia of Northwestern Spain. It is the second largest city, only preceded by Vigo in Ponteverda Province. The city is the capital of the A Coruna Province. ACoruna is a busy port right off the gulf coast of Spain and the Atlantic Ocean. It is an industrial distribution point for agricultural products,heavy industrial products and metalwork. The town of ACoruna has it's own oil refinery but that is not where most of their money is made, surprisingly. ACoruna is a town made up of a mix of Portuguese and Spanish speaking people, they have a culture very rich in Celtic and Roman ancestory.
The name "ACoruna" is a combination of both languages used within the city. Because of the city's beautiful view of the Atlantic Ocean, the city is nicknamed "the city of glass" because in the right light, the water reflects off of the building's windows and makes the whole downtown area glitter like glass. This is one of the most friendly cities in all of Spain. Their motto; A Coruna, la cuidad donde nadie a forastero, means, "A Coruna, a city where nobody is a stranger". In a city of 244,388 befriending everyone must be quite a challenge! Because the city sits right on the bay of a fairly tropical area location, the climate is almost always warm. Even in January, the coldest it gets is fifty seven degrees, Fahrenheit. This is considered a Mediterranean Climate. In the fall and winter time, there are high winds but tropical rains, because of this, it is usually very overcast. The actual temperature is never very cold. This is a beautiful location for a warm getaway during a cold winter in the UK or in the United States,. During the summer and spring time, the air is very dry and the weather sometimes reaches into the high seventies, with over two thousand days of sunshine, ACoruna is a perfect place for water sports. Because this city is right on the ocean, it rarely gets too hot because of the nice gulf freeze that cools the air. There is little rain in the summer time either which makes the summer nice and predictable when planning vacations and holidays.
ACoruna is a great place to visit. There is something for everyone in this town. If you like culture, food, hitting the beaches to try your hand at surfing or even if you are just looking to experience the city that is centuries old with fabulous history, ACoruna is a great place for you to take your next holiday vacation. Whether you come by cruise ship, plane or take the train from a neighboring country, ACoruna Spain has something that the whole family can enjoy. There is great shopping opportunities, night clubs to visit, and castles and churches that are colored with old world tradition and culture and even if you are looking for something different, there is something that can be found in ACoruna Spain.
